Car Hire

If you decide to fly then you will probably need to hire a car right ?

Well, we have used several companies over the years for our car hire and the cheapest was always www.auto-europe.com -- for reference, they tend to use either Europcar or National.

But of course all the other main car rental companies would be more than happy to accommodate (Avis, Hertz etc.).

Ferry

Bringing your own car is also a very popular option but obviously you need to get across that patch of water first.

People who can help you do just that are Brittany Ferries, P&O and Seafrance.

The easiest route tends to be via St Malo, Caen or Cherbourg (using Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth or Poole). It is then about a 4 to 5 hour drive to Le Gicq.

You can also go across La Mancha to Calais, Boulougne or Le Havre (all a bit longer to drive of course, more like 7 hours) but you can always take in another destination along the way (like an overnight in Paris maybe ?).

Train

Fast, efficient and affordable in France. You might want to consider letting the train take the strain?

Getting across the channel is easy via Eurotunnel / Eurostar (and you can also take the car of course)

For internal travel in France itself there are lots of options, including the high speed TGV which takes just over 3 hours from Paris to St Jean Angely on the high speed TGV. Check out these websites...
